Not worth paying full price. I was so surprised to read the plethora of negative reviews on this show. I don't know where they were, but I find it hard to believe they were in the theater watching the same show I was. Let me begin by saying that this was the first of four cirque shows my husband and I watched while in Vegas, and I can pretty confidently say that this was by far out favorite. If you go to Cirque du Soleil's website and compare the acts of all of the shows, you will see that this show is packed full of meaty acrobatic acts that outweigh a lot of the other shows.

Both my husband and I are music people, so that also influenced this review. Their live band was incredible, with unique instruments and a lot of different types of drums. The main character, "Zark" sings very, very well the whole way through the show.

All of the characters are very unique, some endearing, some hilarious, some a little sad. From the moment you sit in your seat, you feel like you are being transported to a different world. The stage is decorated with broken items, making it look like the abandoned theater they are describing.

The music is beautiful, the singing is great, think about the fact that the main character has about ten shows a week and he kills it each time. I have to say, the acts started small but still incredible and got bigger and bigger, and it was beautiful. Bizarre and Beautiful.

To be honest, after reading some of the other reviews I probably would have passed on Zarkana but wouldn't you know it, I was comped two premium seats!

So off we went with somewhat low expectations. My first recommendation to first time viewers is to know beforehand what you are about to see. Grab a program and read it and you will appreciate the show so much more. The basic plot revolves around a gaggle of vaudville-ish misfit circus performers who dwell in an old abandoned theatre with Zark the Ringmaster.

It is part Cirque du Freak, part Bladerunner and part, um, oh yeah, didn't quite understand that part! This unlikely group has been alone for so long they have developed their own language called Cirqueish hence the non-english singing.

Once you know all of this you can really focus on the meat of the production which is the performances and, in keeping with the theme were meant to be 'old school'. This was Cirque du Soleil at it roots with many excellent acrobatic performances. Yes, a couple of the performers had near misses but it only added to the excitement. The standout performer for me was the sand artist.

What an amazing art form and it was mesmerizing. For me, that was worth the admission price alone. When I say it could have been more I meant that they could have made parts of the story more cohesive and understandable because I did leave scratching my head a little about this section and that performer and their meaning.
